  • Description


    • Primary duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.
    • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement. Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.
    • Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.
    • Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.
    • Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.
    • May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
    • Prepares operational and statistical reports.
    • Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups.
    • May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.
    • Performs related responsibilities as required.
    • This is not an administrative support position.


    • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE OFFICE OF GLOBAL STRATEGY & INITIATIVES:  The Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives (GSI) and its reporting divisions (the Office of International Student and Scholar Services, the Claus M. Halle Institute for Global Research and Learning, and Global Services) work to enhance and promote Emory’s global engagement.  GSI supports creative global initiatives, cultivates cross-unit collaboration, promotes a culturally dynamic and diverse campus, and coordinates Emory's international resources and partnerships. 


    The Program Coordinator supports the implementation of GSI, Halle Institute, and Global Services initiatives to advance Emory’s global strategies.  Assists with research and discovery processes to support related decision-making, and with preparation of reports, issue summaries, and recommendations.  Works with team members on office communications and website updates and assists with event planning, management, and execution.  Supports development of talking points, agendas and schedules, including those involving senior leadership and their travel abroad, and assists with related logistics.  Supports GSI’s work with other Emory units to advance Emory’s global strategies.  Assists with international partnership administration and related projects with universities, governments, and foundations in the US and abroad.


    The person in this role must demonstrate a high level of overall quality and professionalism in their work as well as sensitivity to the cultural considerations that international work can involve.  Experience working, studying, and / or traveling abroad is preferred.  An active interest in global affairs is required.
