    Emory’s Office of the General Counsel seeks an experienced health care attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel. The Associate General Counsel will represent Emory University and Emory Healthcare on challenging matters confronting one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers in a rapidly changing health care delivery environment. Duties will include a broad spectrum of healthcare contract review, negotiation, and counseling, as well as advising clients concerning health care regulatory compliance, physician-hospital relationships (specifically including medical staff, credentialing, and peer review issues), and partnership and vendor opportunities. The Associate General Counsel will also provide legal analysis and advice related to a wide variety of healthcare business and operational issues, including patient care matters. Duties may also include participation on health care committees as the legal advisor.

    The candidate must be capable of working with minimal supervision, work well on a team, be an excellent communicator, and be willing to develop new areas of sub-specialty as needs may arise. The candidate must have excellent judgment, client counseling, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills. Collegiality and a sense of humor are valued. Active membership in the Georgia Bar (or ability to become an active member within one year), excellent academic credentials, and a minimum of five years legal experience in the health care field and/or health care-related corporate field required. Previous experience with academic medical centers, physician group practices, health care delivery systems, and/or in-house legal departments is preferred.

    JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides legal advice and assistance on University legal matters. Performs related responsibilities as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an ABA accredited law school. Four years of related experience. Member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia or the ability to become a member within one year.
