    Official Job Title: Engineering Specialist

     

    This position is located at the Yerkes Field Research Station of Emory Univerisity in Lawrenceville, GA.

     

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Fabricates, repairs and modifies animal caging.
    • Replaces and maintains chain link fabric wire mesh and chain link fencing.
    • Repairs cage locks, door rollers, and hinges.
    • Fabricates special research equipment, custom cabinetry and shelving.
    • Modifies animal housing to meet regulatory requirements.
    • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and schematic drawings.
    • Abides by and monitors staff compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
    • Uses personal protective equipment as required.
    • Performs related responsibilities as required.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of a research facility, research or general equipment or a machine shop.

    Additional Details

    Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

    Essential personnel may be required to work in emergency situations during inclement weather, holidays and/or weekends, as necessary.
