    • Recruits students by traveling to college recruitment fairs. Reviews, analyzes, and rates applications of students applying for admission.
    • Conducts information sessions for visiting students and parents, and may conduct campus tours.
    • Assists in coordinating alumni volunteer activities. May review and edit financial aid forms.
    • Composes correspondence, and designs and generates reports.
    • Maintains communication via telephone, correspondence, and/or electronic mail with prospective students through all stages of the recruitment and admission process. Performs related responsibilities as required. 



    Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

    Job Summary

    • Represent the School coherently and enthusiastically in a variety of internal and external events, such as graduate/seminary fairs, college presentations, on-campus events, and other settings.
    • Assist in developing and implementing plan of recruitment and other admissions programs.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key influencers, alumni, clergy, congregations, campus ministers, undergraduate faculty, and denominational leaders.
    • Select, schedule, and coordinate one's own recruitment travel (~50% of time) and events based on plan for recruitment and in consultation with the colleagues.
    • Create and sustain initiatives to cultivate leads and referrals, including regular and consistent follow-up, utilizing enrollment management software to track contacts, communications, and travel.
    • Host prospective students on and off campus for recruitment and admissions events.
    • Engage prospective and admitted students in conversations about vocation, ministry, admission, financial aid, academic programs and departments, student life, housing, and Candler School of Theology and University in general.
    • Assist colleagues in the Office of Admissions with projects, programs, events, information sessions, and recruitment events.
    • Manage recruitment efforts for a specified territory.
    • May coordinate admissions programs for one or more student groups such as prospects, accepted students, alumni, internationals, or transfers.
    • Position requires frequent travel for recruitment.
    • Position requires regular evening work for recruitment and admissions events and activities.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree is required. Graduate theological degree is strongly preferred.
    • A minimum of two years of work experience in church, college campus ministry, and/or university student recruiting.
    • Experience in a graduate theological school is highly desirable. Experience with event planning, hospitality, and customer service is preferred.

    Emory University seeks a dynamic, energetic, and highly motivated individual to join the Candler School of Theology as a recruiter for graduate-level theological education, including those discerning a call for vocational ministry. This highly visible position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid in attracting persons with calls to vocational ministry and interests in graduate theological education, guiding them through the process of inquiry to matriculation, and strengthening the relationships among prospects, key influencers, and Candler School of Theology.


    Candidate must demonstrate strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities. A strong customer-service orientation and commitment to cultivating relationships with prospective students and key influencers are essential.


    Candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to representing the University in a professional and positive manner. Strong presentation skills with the ability to present information effectively to individuals and groups are essential.


    Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Must also have a strong commitment to confidentiality and to handling confidential information with discretion.


    Candidate may demonstrate a connection to faith community and/or an appreciation for theological education. Must also demonstrate a sensitivity to the issues of vocational discernment and familiarity with programs of theological education. A commitment to increasing diversity in theological education is a plus.


    Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of MS Office and experience with enrollment management software is desirable (e.g., Slate). Demonstrated skill in planning, developing, implementing, and coordinating student recruitment is preferred.
