    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Provides clinical and administrative nursing support for research trials, studies, and projects.
    • Recruits and screens potential participants.
    • Performs patient/research subject evaluations, administers medications and research instruments and collects data.
    • May assist with surgical procedures.
    • Provides patient education related to study.
    • Makes referrals to in-house or community professionals.
    • Follows-up with project participants in accordance with established standards and protocols.
    • May coordinate staffing or scheduling assignments.
    • Performs related responsibilities as required.
    • Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia and one year of related nursing experience.

     

    This position must be credentialed through Emory Healthcare under the RNII category.

    Additional Details

    Part time Research RN being sought to support an upcoming clinical trial involving critically ill ICU patients with septic shock in the Medical ICU at Grady Memorial Hospital.  The study is evaluating the management of septic shock using a novel device to measure intra-abdominal pressure.  ICU nursing experience is strongly preferred in the successful candidate.  Previous research experience is not mandatory.  

     

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    (1) Developing, coordinating, and implementing the ICU nursing training and education regarding the novel device and the study protocol.

    (2) Supporting the ICU RNs with ongoing training and education during the research study period of 18-24 months.

    (3) Working with ICU RNs and study team to ensure compliance with study related interventions and protocols.

    (4) Assisting the study team on patient enrollment, data collection, and occasional data entry.  

     

    Additional Job Details:

    • The research RN will be an employee of Emory University, but this position will be based at Grady Memorial Hospital with study recruitment and clinical trial interventions occurring there.
    • The position will require flexible hours to ensure that evening/night shift ICU RNs receive and maintain appropriate training and competencies on the novel device and study protocols.
    • This is a half-time position (20 hours per week) with some opportunity for overtime possible.
