  • Description


    • Directs special projects for a non-central division or department.
    • Manages the strategic planning process and oversees progress toward achieving project goals.
    • Develops and administers project budgets.
    • Participates in the identification of funding sources, initiatives and strategies.
    • Prepares communication documents for articles, reports, and/or presentations.
    • Develops short and long term project goals and objectives.
    • Represents and promotes projects at speaking engagements and with various constituencies.
    • Conducts research, analyzes data and identifies and summarizes trends.
    • Develops and prepares reports.
    • Serves as a liaison with other university departments and represents projects at meetings and events.
    • May hire, supervise and evaluate staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.


    • A bachelor's degree and five years of project management or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Proficiency with various computer software packages. 




    • The ideal candidate will have a strong familiarity with program development, clinical research, healthcare operations, stewardship and sponsor reporting.
    • Superior project management skills, familiarity with research methods and data collection, and a strong history of robust faculty collaboration.
    • She/he will also have significant experience liaising with internal and external partners to independently monitor and advance an ambitious project within an exceptionally short timeline.   


    Additional Details


    The Emory MCI Empowerment Program (MCIEP) director will actively collaborate with a diverse set of faculty leaders fro Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology to independently develop a novel therapeutic and research program for individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). She or he will work in concert with senior internal and external stakeholders to operationalize the program, define program requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs), identify, recruit, and lead a high-performance team, define program requirements, and facilitate stakeholder (funder, patient/family, academic, clinical, and community) stewardship.


    Responsibilities include by are not limited to:


    • Aggressively works to develop the program and each of its functional cores, actively clearing roadblocks and expediting processes.
    • Collaborate with physicians, neuropsychologists, therapists, nurses, social workers, technicians, and academics to develop, implement, and evaluate novel interventions.
    • Oversight of all financial aspects of the program, including adherence to budgets, review of monthly financial data and ensuring that all policies are followed
    • Identify, recruit, and lead a high-performance team of talented staff members who help develop the vision of the MCIEP and who ensure operationalization of its ambitious goals.
    • Develop a robust working relationship with all stakeholders in the cognitive neurology program at the Emory University School of Medicine, and with other related academic units as appropriate.
    • Actively identify opportunities for effective collaboration within Emory and Georgia Tech, and with new and existing external partners such as Oregon Health Sciences University.
    • Ensure full compliance with appropriate regulatory bodies such as the Emory IRB, GT IRB, OHSU IRB, and WIRB for research activities.
    • Shepherd the appropriate advancement of promising therapies to appropriate populations in line with academic/clinical best practices and in full partnership with the project sponsor
    • Develop performance management metrics for the program and for individual elements of the program, managing documentation and processes to track and monitor KPIs and milestones.
    • Achieve programmatic objectives and collaborates with development colleagues to ensure timely stewardship/compliance reporting in line with grant requirements.
    • Manages communication and weekly and quarterly meeting with community members, core leaders, and key staff. Ensures a robust relationship with appropriate patient & family advisors.
    • Expands footprint of the MCI program and builds community relationships through marketing, communications, and other strategic outreach initiatives.
    • Develops opportunities for collaboration, integration, and involvement of stakeholders of the Georgia Memory Net (GMN) and its network of Memory Assessment Centers (MACs).
