    JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists in coordinating one or more student academic functions for a school or program such as admissions, financial aid, registration or student placement. Assists and advises students. May maintain budget records and assist in budget administration. Assists in preparing communication materials about a school or program. Actively participates in committees pertaining to academic services. Maintains and updates students' records in organized filing system and compiles reports from this. May develop resources for students to address particular needs. May supervise clerical personnel. Performs related responsibilities as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in the school's or program's area of specialty or a related field and one year of experience in student admissions, registration, financial aid or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Previous experience with various personal computer software applications.

    Additional Details

    The Department of Theater and Dance is comprised of the autonomous Theater Studies Program and Dance Program. This Academic Services Coordinator position supports the academic and financial activities of the Theater Studies program. Ideal candidate will have a: A background in theater or other arts; an active, problem solving working style; strong command of basic accounting and financial procedures; and at least one year of experience supporting staff and faculty in an academic department or program.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serve as the department’s first point of contact for internal and external queries.
    • Support the department’s Academic Department Administrator position work in several key administrative areas, including department’s marketing, recruitment, travel, operational events, and on boarding of new faculty and staff.
    • Implementing the department and College’s best practices for business operations, and will also coordinate with Emory Finance and Emory Central and College Human Resources. Specific emphasis will be placed on financial transaction work and departmental accounting activities.
    • Manage main office, including mail services, printer/copier, and inventory and ordering of all office supplies. Manage department calendars and room reservations and rentals.
    • Serve as department’s liaison with facilities Management and various offices of technology.
    • Hire, supervise, and maintain personnel files on Federal Work Study (FWS) student workers. Candidate with prior FWS hiring and management experience is preferred.
    • Participate in regular training programs to ensure department is abiding by current best practices and policies.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES: 

    • Working knowledge of: Microsoft Office and Outlook.
    • Experience with meeting scheduling and financial software.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated adaptability to changes in process and technology.
    • Ability to self-manage workload and prioritize deadlines
