A team of researchers in the Departments of Epidemiology and Global Health at Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University are conducting research aimed at identifying SARS-CoV-2 infection among Atlanta, Georgia residents.


Researchers are collaborating with Georgia Department of Public Health.


We are seeking a self-motivated, highly-organized Clinical Research Coordinator II with experience in public health/research project management, who will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the quality and project progress of public health research projects being conducted at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia.



  • Provide principal administrative and research support to the Principal Investigator and Program Director in the administration and implementation of multiple NIH funded projects and their completion
  • Coordinating collaboration between Emory and Fulton County Board of Health in response to COVID-19 pandemic 
  • Be responsible for communication across collaborating departments at Emory University and other relevant stakeholders including daily emails and weekly video/teleconferences
  • Prepare agendas for and lead weekly project team meetings and monthly conference calls with collaborating partners; write and distribute minutes from meetings/calls
  • Serve as a point of contact and interact with the laboratory and clinical personnel at the study sites to ensure smooth integration of the study into the clinical and programmatic setting
  • Ensure project compliance to all aspects of the study protocol, local and national ethics guidelines, and HIPAA regulations
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for project activities at each site
  • Develop and monitor implementation of project work plans
  • Work with U.S. team members to develop and maintain data collection forms and study database
  • Identify potential study participants and contact for screening; consent participants who meet eligibility criteria; collect study interview data and may perform phlebotomy; enter clinical data into REDCap database
  • Schedule and complete follow-up visits with study participants
  • Prepare and present periodic progress reports, meeting agendas and minutes, and action items to document project progress and next steps in regular team meetings with the Study Investigators and other Key Personnel
  • Monitor, evaluate and analyze data entered into study database and develop data reports to track study progress
  • Prepare and submit ethics applications, including amendments and annual renewals to the Emory Institutional Review Board (IRB); oversee ethics applications at all relevant site IRBs
  • Review project ledgers and track expenses
  • Complete additional research duties as assigned


(1) High School Diploma or GED and five years of clinical research experience.


(2) Two years of college in a scientific, health related, or business administration program and three years clinical research experience


(3) Licensed as a practical nurse (LPN) and two years clinical research experience


(4) Bachelor's degree in a scientific, health related, or business administration related program and one year of clinical research experience


(5) Master's degree, MD or PhD in a scientific, health related or business administration program

This position is intended to support clinical research and all clinical training requirements must be tracked and monitored through Emory Healthcare under the credentialing category of CLINICAL RESEARCHER.



  • Masters degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Sociology, and Psychology or related field from an accredited school is preferred
  • Experience with management of research and/or public health projects is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while working as part of a geographically dispersed team
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams
  • Knowledge of human subjects research study design, epidemiology and biostatistics
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite applications and REDCap database system


  • This is a 12-month position
  • This position is based in Atlanta and reports to the Program Director 


NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future.  Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
