Description

Under the direction of the Senior Financial Analyst, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that the accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis functions of the team are operating effectively and efficiently.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinates action necessary to correct account balances, resolve funding issues and maintain proper accounting controls and procedures.
  • Analyzes current and past trends and key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, project expenses and non-operating activities.
  • Monitors performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance. Monitors and analyzes budget patterns.
  • Contributes to the continued development of budgeting, financial forecasting and modeling tools.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly financial reports related to government funds.
  • Keeps the Sr. Financial Analyst informed of significant issues related to planning, implementing and monitoring of programs and activities of the grant/s
  • Analyzes complex financial information and reports necessary to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Prepares and analyzes financial statements and AD hoc reports that represents current and projected financial status.
  • Projects future trends and prepares long-range operational forecasts and cash flow analysis.
  • May perform indirect cost analysis.


TRAVEL: 10% domestic and international travel


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, finance or a related field

AND

  • Four years of financial analysis or accounting experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced MS Excel and Blackbaud Accounting Experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with US Government entities

 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
