Works as part of a team to manage and implement systems and activities that facilitate the recruitment and admission of new students to the Laney Graduate School (LGS).

 

Works under the direction of the Associate Dean of Academic Operations and the Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement team.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Collaborates with staff who provide technical and configuration expertise for admissions and recruiting systems, with the Academic Operations team, and with key stakeholders.
  • Aligns the operation of the recruiting and admissions systems with the major strategic goals of LGS recruiting and admissions, which are: to recruit and admit the strongest applicants to work with the strongest faculty; to recruit and admit a student body that reflects the value LGS and Emory places on a diverse and inclusive community; to comprehensively promote the distinctive opportunities and resources of graduate education at LGS and at Emory; to promote proactive and engaged recruiting activities in degree programs, particularly by program directors and recruiters.
  • Manages admissions operations efficiently and accurately, responsive to the needs of a wide range of stakeholders: LGS leadership and staff, potential and actual applicants, faculty and staff members in LGS degree programs, administrative units at Emory, and others. Implements and maintains systems to ensure that applicants are able to successfully submit needed information to LGS and degree programs in an efficient manner.
  • Implements and maintains systems to ensure that LGS and degree programs are able to review and decide on applications for admission in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Implements and maintains systems to ensure that applicants, LGS and degree programs receive timely, relevant and accurate admission information as needed.
  • Manages and coordinates responses to individual inquiries received through LGS admissions to ensure that inquiries receive timely and informative responses and are connected to the appropriate person or program in LGS or in degree programs.
  • Manages recruiting operations to ensure that recruiting communications are aligned with LGS strategic goals, optimize the connections made from recruitment activities, virtual and in person, and are responsive to recruiting goals and activities of degree programs and other stakeholders.
  • Implements and maintains systems for processing lists of potential applicants from a variety of data sources.
  • Implements and maintains systems to implement LGS communication plans directed at potential applicants and/or their faculty, directors, and program coordinators.
  • Implements and maintains systems to facilitate degree program engagement with CRM based resources.
  • Ensures that communications from CRM system are timely, accurate, and directed at appropriate recipients.
  • Promotes and facilitates the engagement of recruiting-active faculty with the resources and opportunities generated by LGS recruiting activities.
  • Promotes and supports LGS recruiting priorities as well as the recruiting priorities of degree programs.
  • Participates in the management of LGS wide recruiting activities.
  • In coordination with LGS Student Affairs team, implements communication and engagement plans for student on-boarding -- activities to prepare admitted students to arrive on campus and join the LGS community.
  • Aligns activities with the goals of other LGS teams engaged in preparing new students, including Student Affairs, Finance, Diversity and Inclusion, and Professional Development & Career Planning.
  • Coordinates communication plans and relevant procedures to ensure that new students will receive information needed to arrive on campus ready to participate in orientation and other start-up activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of related professional work experience; a graduate degree in higher education or related field is preferred.
  • Experience with CRM or related systems required.
  • Experience in higher education required; experience with PhD education strongly preferred.

 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
