  • Assists with the production needs of the department.
  • Supervises the maintenance of costume stock and construction of stock garments.
  • Serves as a resource to student groups with their costume needs and mentors students in costume construction and design.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises students.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.


  • A bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or a related field and one year of construction and design experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A master's degree is preferred.


  • Garment construction: machine and hand sewing, draping and patternmaking.
  • Previous experience working in an academic environment and/or with students.
  • Experience working with actors, preparing and attending fittings.
  • Wardrobe Crew experience with quick changes, laundry, and caring for costumes during production.
  • Familiar with costume stock storage solutions and costume shop maintenance.  
  • Some knowledge of costume crafts, hair and make-up.


  • Job status: Regular Part-Time/20 hours per week


NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
