Description

The Facilities Services Coordinator will assist the Senior Facilities Manager in monitoring, repairing, and replacing scientific equipment for the Department of Biology.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Plans, directs and coordinates facilities operations for a department/division.
  • Ensures that all facilities (buildings, supplies and equipment) for teaching and research are available and safe.
  • Assists in the preparation of the department's facilities budget.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and one year of experience in construction, engineering, architecture and/or coordinating large projects or events, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years experience working in a research setting, or supporting a laboratory is preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in building or equipment maintenance or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • College science courses or a technical degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Willing to be trained to decontamination class I, class II chemical hazards and BSL 2 biological hazards.
  • Basic computer skills; able to produce simple spreadsheets, compose E-mails and conduct online research in emerging technology.
  • Adaptability in dealing with scientific equipment issues.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as solid written and verbal grammar skills.
  • The ability to work independently or as a team member on projects as needed.
  • A team player, excellent interpersonal skills.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • The job requires technical dexterity, dedication, creativity, organization, and a genuine interest in mechanics and learning in general.
  • The position will require physical movement – the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop and twist.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
