JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Perform routine and complex accounting activities requiring knowledge of systems, independent judgment, and ability to respond accordingly.
• Ensure accuracy of account balances, resolve funding issues, and maintain proper accounting controls and procedures as per University policies and guidelines.
• Coordinates action necessary to correct account balances and maintain proper accounting controls and procedures.
• Process activities for monthly and fiscal financial close, reporting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives for school revenue and costs.
• Assist in preparing, developing and monitoring budgets. Assists in year-end audits and ensuring the accuracy of accounting data.
• Analyzes financial statements and prepares and analyzes financial reports to represent current and projected financial status which will aid management in short- and long-range financial planning.
• Review and approve all travel & expense reports, purchasing card transactions, payment requests, requisitions/purchase orders, journal entries, and miscellaneous reimbursements, ensuring compliance with Emory policies and procedures.
• Provide departmental/administration support by preparing deposits for cash/checks/wires, process journal entries for inter- and intra-departmental charges and transfers, generate purchase orders, and submit invoices for payment.
• Generate ad hoc reports for departments using Oracle Business Intelligence, research and resolve account discrepancies, and respond to inquiries regarding invoices and payment status.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on internal financial systems, processes, and reporting.
• Identify opportunities for efficiencies and automation, make and implement recommendations to optimize school’s financial outcome.
• Champion ad hoc projects for finance and operations that require strategic thinking and effective communication with financial and non-financial audience.
• Collaborate across teams, while supporting necessary changes and proactively leading new initiatives and process changes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with 2 to 5 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
• Must possess excellent functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, and a good understanding of and experience with computerized financial accounting and reporting systems.
• Sound oral and written communication skills with positive attitude a must.
• Strong organizational skills, an attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus on a variety of tasks simultaneously and effectively.
• Highly motivated with a growth mindset, self-driven and a team player with willingness to go above and beyond the basic job description to ensure outstanding service to business school staff, faculty, and leaders.
• Intellectual and technological curiosity with solid ability to grasp information, make recommendations, and a drive for problem-solving, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration, with minimal supervision.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work.
