Current information about the Center’s many programs and activities are available at The Carter Center.   SUMMARY:   The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Director of Development for Health Programs as well as a team of eight development officers in the Health Programs Development (PPD) team and the broader Programs Development (PD) department. Under the supervision of an Office Manager, assists in the broader administration of the PD department, together with a second administrative assistant. Must be able to do database work up to 50% of the time, including financial reconciliations between the donor database (Raiser’s Edge) and Finance database (Unit 4), generating unique and standard reports, including gift and financial reports, and ensuring the donor database is up to date with accurate information about program donors, contacts, gifts, and dates. This position will assist in managing content, processes, and configuring new site architecture on the department’s Microsoft SharePoint and Teams sites. The position will coordinate event planning and logistics management, including complex, segmented mailing lists, RSVP tracking, and coordinating with Events staff, other departments, and donors. Other administrative duties include: handling arrangements for meetings, conferences, and staff travel; creating and managing mailing lists for unique and ongoing mailings; processing donor agreements/contracts; coordinating the gift acknowledgment process; donor correspondence; compiling information for events, presentations, meetings, etc.; coordinating projects with other departments at The Carter Center, including the broader Development department, Finance, Communications, Events, Health, Peace, and Education Programs, and the Executive Offices.  Confidentiality is required. Must be able to work occasional flexible hours for early morning and evening events during the week, as needed. Works in high containment areas when necessary.  This involves getting the proper vaccinations, wearing personal protection equipment (PPE), and attending regularly scheduled training sessions.  High containment areas can include biosafety level 3 (BSL3) facilities, animal holding rooms, confined space, and others.  Works closely with maintenance shop and assists when needed for other building system related tasks. The hours for this position are Monday – Friday 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM.   JOB DESCRIPTION:  - Welding: Perform various welding operations including MIG, TIG and Arc. - Fabricates, repairs, and maintains primate housing and caging, enrichment devices and research apparatus. - Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and schematic drawings according to welding and/or fabricating equipment. - Installs and maintains water main supply lines, natural gas supply lines, sewer mains, detention/retention ponds, general grading and tree/stump removal. - Installs and maintains building electrical including lighting and power distribution, plumbing, and HVAC systems. - Performs installation and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. - Operates various heavy equipment including wheeled and tracked machines, forklift trucks and aerial lift equipment. - Abides by and monitors staff compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. - Maintains vehicle fleet including vans, trucks, golf carts, and heavy equipment. - Performs related responsibilities as required.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - A High School Diploma or equivalent and five years of experience in the repair and maintenance of an industrial shop, research facility, or machine shop. - Welding experience, preferably in manufacturing environment, is required. - Must be familiar with common welding terms, symbols and procedures including metal fabricating, grinding and finishing tools. - Basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills. - Ability to perform various welding operations including MIG, TIG and Arc. - Must be able to work outside in the elements. - A valid driver's license is required. - Ability to stand, bend, stoop and twist and occasionally lift heavy equipment in a myriad of weather conditions. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  - Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural and general carpentry  - Have experience in maintaining commercial facilities during off-hours with no other maintenance staff present.   - The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare, research, laboratory and/or other critical/biomedical facilities.   - Experience with a commercial building automation system (BAS) is a plus. - Working knowledge of metal working tools and equipment.  - Able to demonstrate proficiency in various welding techniques MIG/TIG/Stick. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:  - Involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions - Requires the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. as well as the ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat, move/push heavy racks a short distance - This position is required to have the proper vaccinations, wear personal protection equipment (PPE), and attend regularly scheduled training sessions.   - High containment areas including biosafety level 3 (BSL3) facilities, animal holding rooms, confined space, and others. - Involves working in the elements, cold/heat/rain/snow.
