The Vaccine Center at Yerkes National Primate Research Center at Emory University is currently seeking a full time Lead Research Specialist to join our lab. Our research consists of studying the immune response to emerging viral infections. For many years, we have focused on mosquito-borne flaviviruses, including West Nile virus, Zika virus, Dengue virus and Yellow Fever virus, and more recently COVID-19. We use both in vitro and in vivo model systems to dissect host factors and viral factors that regulate infection, immunity and infection outcome. Currently, this position will directly involve supporting ongoing Zika virus-related research efforts. For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated, collaborative, productive and energetic individual who can assist with laboratory management. Previous laboratory experience is desired (2-5 years’ experience) and BSL3 experience is preferred but not required.

The Division of Microbiology & Immunology within the Yerkes National Primate Research Center at Emory University is currently seeking a full time Biostatistician to join our lab. Our research is focused on studying mechanisms of HIV persistence during ART -treated infection, with an emphasis on identifying mechanisms that promote HIV latency for development of therapeutic interventions.   • Develop statistical plan for priority research questions in coordination with senior group leaders.

  • Serves as liaison for all Development reporting needs to ensure accuracy and presentation of EIM data.

Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery:

  • The Director of Compliance and Reporting is instrumental at ensuring that all new processes and procedures are documented and maintained to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating internal Business Continuity Plan as needed.
  • This position is consistently driving the team toward operational best practices.

Budget Tracking and Reporting:

  • In conjunction with COO and Deputy COO, creates, maintains, and tracks the annual operating budget for EIM. This includes reviewing monthly budget vs actual expenditures and documenting large variances.
  • Prepares monthly summary budget reports for CIO (Travel, Legal, etc.).
  • Self-Administration: Serves as a critical resource within our self-administration processes.
  • Participates in the following processes to ensure segregation of duties and additional operational oversight: cash recon, journal entry review, fund onboarding/offboarding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, and ten years of finance/accounting experience, including experience in an investment organization or related public company reporting preferred.
  • Knowledge of investment management and accounting software tools.
  • Must have a solid understanding of external compliance requirements and willing to develop a strong understanding of internal compliance requirements.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated interest in understanding operational best practices associated with various investment strategies and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and understanding of risk management.
  • Deep technical knowledge of accounting and operational issues pertaining to various financial instruments, including equity, credit, and derivatives.
  • Ability to leverage technology across multiple platforms for effective communication of investment information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel for data aggregation, analysis, and reconciliation.
  • MBA or CPA highly preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

  • As part of the Task Force for Global Health, leads small to medium size matrix project teams that may consist of Business Analysts, Project Managers, Information Architects, and Data Analysts to complete quality deliverables within scope, on time, and within budget.
  • May mentor other analysts on informatics standards and methodologies.
  • Ensure that informatics standards and methodologies support and advance the project objectives.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with clients, project team and other staff.
  • Provides public health agencies with recommendations on an informatics strategy.
  • Identifies technical solutions for electronic sharing of clinical and public health data and opportunities for integrating informatics projects. Supports public health agencies in coordinating informatics needs and priorities.
  • Recommends best practices and methodologies for systems development, testing, implementation, and operation within a public health agency.
  • Identifies relevant standards to support programmatic needs, including vocabulary and terminology standards, information content standards, information exchange standards, privacy and security standards, functional standards, and others as needed.
  • Leverages standardized data and messaging for data reuse and workflow automation.
  • Provides public health practitioners support in managing informatics projects including engaging stakeholders, soliciting, and selecting contracted services and managing contractor performance.
  • Communicates project work and informatics issues through conference presentations, reports, and journal articles. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A bachelor's degree in informatics, business, engineering, science or related field and seven years of position specific subject matter knowledge and/or experience in planning and applying information technology to one or more business functions, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A master's degree is preferred.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in public health related field.
  • Five years of experience specifically related to the position including (at least one year) in public health informatics.
  • Five years of experience in public health program areas of immunization, surveillance, vital records or direct services and/or working with Electronic Health Record systems, and/or health data standards or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Demonstrated strong professional oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interact with both internal staff and external clients with diplomacy and tact.
  • Experience working with a public health agency.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work-related priorities.
  • Experience with standards (HL7, LOINC, SNOWMED, ICD10).
  • Proven ability to implement projects.
