JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

  • Directs the planning, development, and operations of a program with the Task Force for Global Health.
  • Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies.
  • Plans, executes, and monitors program budgets, including approval of expenditures;
  • prepares annual financial and program reports to external parties with interests in the program.
  • May engage in fundraising initiatives on behalf of the program.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Project Manager is assigned to the Institute’s larger projects that incorporate multiple activities or mini-projects.
  • The Project Manager ensures that all of their assigned projects are completed on time and within budget, working with the Project Director to ensure the projects meets their goals.
  • The Project Manager supports the senior executive team (Director, Deputy Director, and Business Unit Directors), Project Directors, and other team members in developing deliverables and sets an appropriate expectation level for these deliverables.
  • The Project Manager ensures external project participants (for example, grantees, partners, subject matter experts, and meeting participants) are engaged and are informed of status and direction of project activities.
  • They may assist in writing grants and in finding new funding opportunities.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION:

  • Works with Project Director and project team to define scope of a project.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:

  • Coordinates and submits requests for No Cost Extensions, Carryover, rebudgeting requests, changes in scope, and other changes to the award; ensures all requests are done in compliance with sponsor guidelines and University policies.
  • Facilitates the approval of invoices to pay subcontractors.
  • Reviews effort reports and manages quarterly effort certification process for assigned units.
  • Applies federal and university rules to management of effort allocation appropriately for individuals compensated whole or in part from federal awards.
  • Assists in transferring awards out of the university.
  • Closes out all funded projects consistent with university process and timelines.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience related to grants and contracts management OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal rules and regulations/terms and conditions relating to research grant and/or contract activity.
  • Knowledge of the PeopleSoft Financial System preferred.

Job Description

This Clinical Research Coordinator will independently manage significant and key aspects related to a multi-center clinical trial of Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) to reduce multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) colonization in long term-acute care hospitals (LTACHs) and ventilator-associated skilled nursing facilities (vSNFs). This investigator-initiated trial is part of several research projects conducted by the Prevention Epicenter of Emory and Collaborating Healthcare Facilities (PEACH II). PEACH II is a CDC-funded program addressing healthcare-associated infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) across the healthcare delivery spectrum. PEACH II includes a portfolio of research that can influence or change standard practices and fill gaps in current infection prevention guidance. Projects advance transdisciplinary research incorporating human factors engineering, microbiome therapeutics, environmental microbiology, and bioinformatics. Activities will mostly occur in the largest healthcare system in metropolitan Atlanta, GA (pop. 5 million), utilize Emory Healthcare’s Clinical Data Warehouse as well as established research ties to a multi-state network of nursing homes, long-standing research collaborations with other Prevention Epicenters, Georgia Emerging Infections Program and Georgia Department of Health. As a multi-center clinical trial, some compensated travel to participating sites for training and study activities may be required.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Independently manages significant and key aspects of a large clinical trial or all aspects of one or more small trials, or research projects.
  • Trains and provides guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Oversees data management for research projects.
  • Interfaces with research participants and resolves issues related to study protocols.
  • Authorizes purchases for supplies and equipment maintenance.
  • Determines effective strategies for promoting/recruiting research participants and retaining participants in long term clinical trials.
  • Periodically audits operations including laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations; provides leadership in identifying and implementing corrective actions/processes.
  • Monitors IRB submissions and responds to requests and questions.
  • Interfaces with study sponsors, monitors and reports SAEs; resolves study queries.
  • Provides leadership in determining, recommending, and implementing improvements to policies/processes.
  • Assists in developing grant proposals and protocols.
  • With appropriate credentialing and training may perform phlebotomy, specimens collection or diagnostics.
  • May perform some supervisory duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(1.) High School Diploma or GED and seven years of clinical research experience. OR

(2.) Two years of college in a scientific, health related or business administration program and five years of clinical research experience OR

(3.) Licensed as a Practical Nurse (LPN) and four years of clinical research experience OR

(4.) Bachelor's degree in a scientific, health related or business administration program and three years clinical research experience OR

(5.) Master's degree, MD or PhD in a scientific, health related or business administration program and one year of clinical research experience Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) preferred.
