- Provides media training to administrators, physicians, researchers.
- Works collaboratively with school and department communicators, and subject matter experts to prepare for media interviews, develop press briefings, and create materials for media relations.
- Collaborates with leadership to drive web and new media strategy, reputation and issues management, as well as support key communications needs regarding government affairs.
- Contributes to new concept development and oversees content and related multimedia production for delivery through the website for WHSC and the Emory News Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate for this position will have hands-on laboratory research experience and a working knowledge of molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, DNA extraction, sequencing). This research specialist will help execute research projects in the lab and further develop the research program, which focuses on the genetics of craniofacial anomalies. This will involve managing laboratory experiments including DNA extractions, PCR, and next-gen and Sanger sequencing, preparing and maintaining a large collection of DNA samples, managing the LIMS database that tracks the sample inventory and data, analyzing Sanger and next-gen sequence data, handling equipment installation and repairs, and coordinating research activities with collaborating groups. The Department of Anesthesiology at Grady Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time advanced practice provider (NP or PA) to become part of our acute and chronic pain services. This individual will work collaboratively with attending and resident physicians in the assessment and management of inpatients referred to the acute pain consult service, and follow-up on the patients who have received nerve blocks and catheters, and follow-up on patients in Grady outpatient chronic pain clinic. This position is a M-F, 9a-5pm, no call position.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Perform comprehensive assessment and management of pain issues for patients referred to the acute pain consult service (post-traumatic pain, post-surgical pain, acute on chronic pain exacerbations) through initial evaluation and follow-up.
- This role will involve obtaining a comprehensive pain history, perform a focused physical exam, and establishing a diagnosis and treatment plan, and documenting in the medical record under supervision by the acute pain service physician.
- This care will include management of opiate and non-opiate adjunct pain medications, single shot nerve block injections, nerve block catheters, and epidurals.
- Perform comprehensive assessment, troubleshooting, and management of peripheral nerve block catheters and epidural catheters.
- Obtain procedural consent from patients/family members for nerve blocks/catheters.
- Spend a portion of time in chronic pain clinic seeing follow-up and post-procedure visits
- Make follow-up phone calls to patients who are discharged home after receiving nerve blocks/catheters to ensure expectant course and provide troubleshooting/triage over the phone as needed.
- Assist with onboarding to new anesthesia residents rotating through the acute pain service.
- Maintain good communication amongst consulting teams, patients, ancillary staff, and family members.
- Independently seek opportunities to expand clinical knowledge and skills.
- Participate in departmental / division / hospital committees as needed.
