- Serves as a lead staff and provides guidance to other Controls System Operating Technicians.
- May act on behalf of the Controls Shop Supervisor in his/her absence.
- Assists in the commissioning of controls systems with vendors.
- Analyzes heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for air and hydraulic balances.
- Monitors, operates and troubleshoots the energy management system that controls the HVAC systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Seven years of experience with controls systems which includes two years of experience with at least one BAS controls software and general knowledge of HVAC systems OR five years of controls experience and completion of a formal controls training program which includes two years of experience with at least one BAS controls software and general knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical and electronics systems.
- A working knowledge of various computer software applications.
- Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of Siemens, Johnson or ALC controls systems, completion of a HVACR program at a technical or trade school and/or State of Georgia Conditioned Air Contractors License.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented undergraduate researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and proper nutrition of piglets in the Margulies Laboratory. The role involves close collaboration with Division of Animal Resources (DAR) personnel, lab members, adherence to feeding protocols, and diligent record-keeping.

Responsibilities:
1. Communicate effectively with the lab and DAR personnel to coordinate the completion of the intake process for piglets.
2. Initiate the feeding process following DAR's completion of animal intake procedures.
3. Observe piglets for a minimum of 10 minutes post-feeding to monitor behaviors related to food and hierarchy establishment.
4. Record feeding details, including date, time, and amount fed/consumed, on DAR forms such as the DAR feeding chart and Initial DAR room activity log form after each feeding session.
5. Conduct daily weight measurements of piglets until weaning, recording data on the DAR log form.
6. Communicate feeding transition to lab and DAR, utilizing emails, calls, text messages, and verbal contact.
7. Collaborate with lab and DAR veterinary and husbandry staff to manage any unexpected or unusual circumstances that may arise.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in a bachelors program at a four year institution.
2. Previous experience in animal care, working with animals, including pets, i.e., dogs and cats.
3. Knowledge of feeding protocols and animal behavior is an asset.
4. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
5. Detail-oriented with a focus on accurate record-keeping.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Comfortable working with live animals and following established procedures.

Work Schedule

- Working on an annual report on viral hepatitis in Fulton County. This may involve establishing an internal data infrastructure for compiling and analyzing available disease data, instituting a process for creating data visualizations, identifying best practices for mapping disease in sub-county units of geography, and ultimately producing an annual report that is both responsive to Georgia’s Viral Hepatitis Elimination Plan and useful for addressing the hepatitis epidemic in our jurisdiction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in public health or Master of Science degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field from a CEPH accredited school/program of public health obtained within the last three years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s of Public Health graduates of CEPH-accredited schools or programs of public health in Georgia and the Southeast are encouraged to apply.
- MPH with a concentration in Epidemiology
- Closely supervised work experience demonstrating competence in conducting public health surveillance, analyzing surveillance data, reporting analytic results, and conducting outbreak investigations.
- Bilingual skills with English and Spanish
- Experience talking with medical staff and/or patients about lab results and risk factors.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Under supervision at the health district, day-to-day activities of the fellows include, but are not limited to planning, developing, and conducting epidemiologic investigations, surveillance, outreach and interventions limited in scope and/or complexity to determine the causes of diseases and implementing methods of disease control.
- Fellow duties also include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data and preparing epidemiologic reports.
- The applied epidemiology experience is supplemented by competency based professional development trainings and comradery-building programming.
- Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities: Assists in the implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of communicable diseases.
- Designs, implements, and maintains disease surveillance.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares reports.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
Hired into the Rollins Epidemiology Fellows Program and supported by the CDC-funded Emory Center for Infectious Disease Modeling and Analytics Training Hub (CIDMATH), Outbreak Analytics (OA) Fellows serve as early-career Master’s-level epidemiologists for a two-year term within one of Georgia’s 18 local health districts or at the Georgia Department of Public Health. This position is not located at Emory, but rather at District 3-4 Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale in Lawrenceville, GA. Fellows may be able to work remotely 1-2 days per week once fully trained. Under supervision and integrated into the team of epis at the placement site, day-to-day activities of OA Fellows include, but are not limited to: planning, developing, and conducting epidemiologic investigations and surveillance to determine the causes of diseases; developing methods and evaluating programs of disease control; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data; contributing to data modernization initiatives (DMI); and preparing epidemiologic reports. Supported by faculty and collaborators affiliated with CIDMATH and CDC’s Insight Net, OA Fellows’ applied epidemiology experience will be supplemented by mentorship, training and coursework in infectious disease modeling, competency-based professional development trainings, and comradery-building programming. The additional training and mentorship are expected to be about 20% of the OA Fellows’ time (averaging 1 day/work week) over the course of the fellowship. Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains, evaluates, refines and innovates on surveillance data systems.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets epidemiologic data and prepares reports to provide insights into the current health status of the community.
- Assists with the evaluation and assessment for new and existing disease control programs.
- Contributes to the organization’s DMI efforts and create internal and external-facing surveillance and outbreak data dashboards.
- Interprets statistical results for various community audiences, public health leaders, and policy makers to inform decision making.
- Deploys to other departments or districts in times of public health emergencies for additional analytics-focused surge staffing, as needed.
- Provides training, technical assistance, and consultative services regarding epidemiology and the control of diseases.
- Serves as a point of contact for various personnel regarding moderately complex epidemiologic issues.
- Attends advanced training in the Annual Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID), Rollins School of Public Health infectious disease related coursework, and professional development trainings.
- Performs other duties in support of section operations as assigned.

Example projects include: Working with program leadership to enhance the existing surveillance and data analytics tracking and reporting systems for the GNR Infectious Disease Program areas including HIV Prevention, Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention, and Tuberculosis Control. The main project goal is to develop a robust surveillance database allowing for just-in-time analytics, reporting, and production of program deliverable reports. This project involves:
- Working collaboratively with program staff to ensure appropriate tracking across multiple data platforms including SENDSS, EHARS, M&M and local tracking systems.
- Working with program leadership to develop quarterly and annual surveillance analytical reports including data visualization.
- Working with the HIV prevention team on HIV outbreak and molecular cluster surveillance.
- Working collaboratively with GNR Epidemiology Unit Data Epidemiologist and Epidemiology team. This project involves:
- Updating and enhancing existing surveillance data visualization and notifiable disease morbidity dashboards.
- Data analysis and functionality in Tableau, REDCap, SAS, and other standard analytic programs based on experience and preference of the Fellow.
- Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing outbreak data. Additionally, the Fellow will assist in the development of outbreak summary reports, abstracts, poster presentations, data summary reports, and other analytic summaries to share pertinent public health related data with our communities, peers, and other agencies/organizations
- Fellows will be placed in their health districts with a start date of July 12, 2024.

- Master’s degree with a concentration in Applied Mathematics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or Health Informatics; Certificate in Infectious Disease Epidemiology or Modeling or similar coursework
- 1-2 years of experience demonstrating competence in conducting public health surveillance, analyzing surveillance data, reporting analytic results, and conducting outbreak investigations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Excel and other statistical software such as EpiInfo, STATA, R and/or SAS and/or experience with analytic tools such as Python, SQL, Tableau, BI suite, ArcGIS.
