Its 17 programs focus on building durable public health systems that serve all people. Focus areas include neglected tropical diseases, vaccines, and health systems strengthening. The Task Force received the 2016 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize–the world's largest award of its kind–in recognition of its extraordinary contributions to alleviating human suffering. This position is for the Neglected Tropical Diseases Support Center (NTD-SC), a program within the Task Force that supports operational research on shared issues confronting neglected tropical diseases. The NTD-SC is funded by separate grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Neglected Tropical Diseases Program. The mission of the NTD-SC is to provide the technical assistance and problem-solving research necessary to ensure a strong scientific base for the massive global public health effort currently underway to eliminate NTDs. The NTD-SC is also the secretariat for the Coalition for Operational Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases (COR-NTD).   JOB DESCRIPTION: - Collaborates with Task Force for Global Health country stakeholders in establishing an effective disease prevention/intervention program within countries: 1) Assures coordination of public health activities between stakeholders and provides consultation, technical assistance and direction in the implementation of program activities. 2) Participates in the development of strategies aimed at the identification, analysis and resolution of problems impacting public health program operations. 3) Establishes a surveillance system to monitor the effectiveness of program operations. 4) Establishes and maintains effective communication between stakeholders. - Researches factors that may impact the success of a public health program and develop interventions when needed. - Develops and implements a surveillance system to ensure the appropriate diagnosis, treatment, reporting, and follow-up of morbidity specific to the assignment program(s). - Responds to concerns and deficiencies identified in all program areas (if reportable in the project area). - Analyzes trends through surveillance and making recommendations for program policy. - Analyzes trends and makes subsequent recommendations for changes in program policy. - Provide technical advice, consultation, and training on administrative and technical aspects of disease intelligence, individual elements of surveillance systems, staffing and training needs. - Establishes an effective MERLA (monitoring, evaluation, research, learning and adapting) framework to measure the effectiveness of the program(s) as well as changing the course of the program if needed in response to the information from the MERLA framework. - Provides support and training to build country capacities in MERLA.
