Recently we are funded to study Oral microbiome and periodontal diseases in oral HPV infection among people living with HIV. The proposed research will examine the associations among oral microbiome, periodontal diseases, and oral HPV infection, as well as the immunological underpinnings of oral HPV infection for people with HIV. In addition, we are funded to test the therapeutic potential of cytokine therapy in SIV infected macaques. The candidate should be interested in human and macaque studies. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: - The laboratory studies the ecological drivers of parasite transmission and reproduction, primarily focusing on two groups of parasites, human schistosomes and Guinea worm. - Both of these parasites have aquatic invertebrates as intermediate hosts. - We conduct experiments, field surveys, and modeling to understand how ecological interactions among these species and others in their environments, e.g., predators, influence transmission. - The person in this position will maintain copepod and other invertebrate populations in the lab, conduct ecological experiments with invertebrates and parasites, collect and organize data, and perform analyses under the direction of the PI. - In addition, this person will be responsible for maintaining the biosafety requirements of a BSL2 facility as well as the logistics of the laboratory. - The latter includes maintaining and continually updating the inventory of media, chemicals, as well as ordering supplies and equipment needed by the people in the lab. - Other responsibilities include supervising Work Study and other student employees. - The position is renewable after one year for an additional year. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Candidates with laboratory or field experience with aquatic invertebrates and/or their parasites are preferred. Experience troubleshooting experiments, administrative and organizational skills, and basic microscopy and data entry/analysis skills are also highly desirable. The InMotioNSS Lab, located in the SOM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, is seeking to hire a full-time Research Interviewer. This position will work closely with the PI (Dr. David Goldsmith) and study team on a newly funded mechanistic clinical trial to study the impact of inflammation on brain reward circuits in patients with schizophrenia. We are seeking a Research Projects Manager to join the Healthcare Human Factors Lab at Emory University. A qualified candidate should be able to contribute to research study design, execution, and analyses of quantitative and qualitative data. In this role, you will work with healthcare professionals and other researchers to conduct and publish research and help develop products and processes to improve safety and usability.   The Emory Healthcare Human Factors Lab (HHFL) seeks to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of healthcare through human factors-based research, evaluation, and design. Human Factors is a science that combines psychology and engineering to understand the interaction between humans and the systems in which they operate. Our lab leverages a team of cross-disciplinary faculty and staff and dedicated healthcare workers to deepen our understanding of healthcare workers and the equipment, processes, technology, and environments with which they interact.   The focus of the HHFL thus far has been on infection prevention and control (IPC) and personal protective equipment (PPE). Our team is currently working on projects that aim to address IPC challenges highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. These include simulation-based studies of IPC practices during adult and pediatric inpatient care and developing interventions to reduce the spread of multidrug-resistant organisms in skilled nursing facilities. Many HHFL projects are funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
