This is a recruitment of the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Emory University School of Medicine for an ASSISTANT SCIENTIST who has demonstrated expertise in biomedical science. It is anticipated that the appointment will also be made as a senior lab member in assisting Dr. Yong Wan for lab operation. Part of mission of this position will be to support Dr. Yong Wan for his leadership in coordination of Breast Cancer Research Program at Glenn Family Breast Center/Winship Cancer Center. Your primary responsibility is to pilot research projects that investigate the role of post-translational modifications (e.g., ubiquitin-proteasome, protein glycosylation, protein methylation) in tumor immunology, tumor microenvironment and therapeutics and develop the next generation of impactful treatment strategies for cancer treatment. It’s anticipated to apply new systems such as microfluidic-organoid-on-chip to study the interplay between tumor with adipocytes, various immune cells such as T cell, microphage and MDSC, and tumor-associate fibroblast. This candidate will take responsibility to conduct animal experiments including transgenic mouse models and breast cancer preclinical mouse models (xenograft, PDX, humanized and organoids) and drug development. This candidate will also handle biomedical data process and analysis. It is anticipated that the candidate will team up with Dr. Wan and expand your research to develop collaboration with other Faculty in the Department, across Winship and the University with a focus on translating breast cancer research from bench to bedside and back.   The candidate will participate academic research activities at both Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology and Winship Cancer Center. Together with Dr. Wan, the candidate is expected to work with the clinical team lead by Dr. Kevin Kalinsky, for pre-clinical investigations that can serve as the rationale for early phase clinical trials, and to develop team-science programs in breast cancer for federal funding. This candidate will participate in supervision of student, post-doc and medical fellow and some lab organization such as animal protocols, IBC-rDNA, lab major devices and coordination of lab academic activities.
