DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources and technology for the purpose of soliciting alumni, donor engagement, donor research, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. Our mission is to inspire and steward meaningful, lasting relationships that elevate engagement and giving to fulfill Emory’s mission to serve humanity. The Engagement, Communications & Marketing team for the division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement connects alumni to the university and each other, builds traditions, and fosters student and alumni leadership. The Content and Creative Strategy team consist of writers, designers, strategists, creators, and content marketers with a passion to engage and persuade donors to invest in the work of Emory. This position, which will report to the Senior Director of Editorial Content, will partner with fundraisers across academic and health sciences schools and units to cultivate, solicit, and steward major and principal donors through persuasive writing.   JOB DESCRIPTION: - Serves as a project manager and writer for communications produced by Advancement and Alumni Engagement including gift proposals, stewardship and fund reporting, articles for publications, web content, philanthropic or alumni-centric collateral, and strategic donor relations reporting. Interviews alumni, donors, technical experts, and researchers for content. - May develop complex proposals and stewardship reports for major gift prospects in partnership with development officers. - Proposals and reports may span multiple schools/units. - Responsible for managing all components of communication projects and process from start to finish. - Identifies opportunities for and writes news releases and articles for publications. - Writes and/or edits materials consistent with strategic initiatives and objectives of Advancement and Alumni Engagement. - Contributes content to the communications team and helps coordinate coverage to serve the strategic communications needs of the division. - May edit/review content created by other staff. - Performs related responsibilities as assigned. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Associate Director may be required to: - Translate scientific and academic information and language into understandable messaging to engage prospects to support Emory through philanthropy. - Collaborate with fundraisers and graphic designers to develop creative briefs and timelines at the outset of projects. - Manage projects from intake to completion, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure deadlines are meet and projects are completed efficiently and successfully. - Use project management software (currently Wrike) to keep project status and information up to date and to collaborate with graphic designers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - A bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience journalism, higher education, non-profit, or related environment OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training. - Outstanding skills in writing, editing, interviewing, and oral presentation. - Must have the ability to organize, set priorities, and manage several projects at once with minimal supervision. - Must demonstrate the ability to write journalistically at a sophisticated level, including mastery of the English language. Laboratory of Biochemical Pharmacology (LOBP) directed by Dr. Raymond F. Schinazi consists of a dynamic and complementary team with expertise spanning medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, virology, molecular biology, toxicology, pharmacology and immunology. The Schinazi lab focuses on discovering novel antiviral agents with the goal of advancing promising compounds to clinical trials. Over the years, the group has developed several small molecule inhibitors for the treatment of human viral infections including HIV, herpesviruses, hepatitis B and C, SARS-CoV-2 and work actively on drug targeting emerging human viruses including Dengue, West Nile, Yellow Fever, Chikungunya, Ebola, Norovirus and Enteroviruses.   The lab employs over 70 people, including several research faculty, post-doctoral fellows, support scientists, research staff, administrative personnel and graduate students. The laboratory consists of approximately 3900 sq. c. of lab space, with another 700 sq. c. dedicated to administration. This includes BSL-2, BSL-2* and BSL-3 laboratories for research and training, four dedicated molecular biology labs, three cellular/molecular toxicology and pharmacological facilities, mass spectrometry, gene chip and flow cytometry facilities. In addition, LOBP has its own fully equipped chemistry laboratory with all the resources required to perform synthetic and medicinal chemistry including 400 MHz NMR with autosampler, UPLC/MS system, preparative HPLC, automated purification systems, and microwave synthesis reactor. LOBP is now seeking an Assistant Scientist with synthetic and medicinal chemistry expertise to join its chemistry group. The MHC Tetramer Core Facility seeks a full-time protein chemist at the level of Lead Research Specialist or above. Faculty in the Department of Behavioral, Social and Health Education Sciences at the Rollins School of Public Health, in partnership with Cherokee Nation Behavioral Health, have funding from the NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative for a cluster-randomized prevention trial conducted in rural communities in or near the Cherokee Nation Reservation (in northeast Oklahoma). The goal of the trial is to implement and evaluate a theory-based, integrated multi-level intervention designed to prevent the onset and escalation of substance misuse among high school students into adulthood. Main outcome measures are assessed with a survey of youth followed over 3.5 years (7 survey waves).   JOB DESCRIPTION: - Under limited supervision, the epidemiologist would have knowledge of advanced statistical methods to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges in a clinical research environment. - Designs, manages, and evaluates large, state-level (group-randomized) controlled trial. - Thoroughly understands and executes study protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent collection of data. - Provides technical expertise and advice on study design and data analysis using a variety of statistical methods. - May provide assistance with interpretation of statistical analysis for peer review. - Contributes to grant proposals, protocols, data analysis plans and management, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings. - May participate in peer-reviewed manuscript authorship and occasional travel to scientific conferences. - Performs related responsibilities as required.
